Director: Gail Harvey
Starring: Annabeth Gish, Warren Christie, Laura Harris
Running Time: 88 minutes
Synopsis: In Connecticut of 2019, suburban mom Jennifer Dulos (Annabeth Gish) goes missing. In flashbacks, her troubled marriage is recalled by best friend Audrey (Laura Harris). Jennifer comes from a wealthy family and dreams of becoming a writer, but her life remains aimless into her mid-30s. She meets the seemingly dashing Fotis (Warren Christie), a water ski sportsman. They get married, settle into a lavish house, and have five kids. But financial pressures and Fotis' increasingly inattentive behaviour stress the couple, leading to a bitter divorce and custody battle.
What Works Well: This is a Lifetime production based on a true story, aiming for efficiently functional storytelling. The production standards are marginally above average television standards, and the domestic strife features a familiar mix of questionable choices leading to a marriage-gone-wrong, emotional abuse, and threats of violence.
What Does Not Work As Well: The writing, acting, and directing are all rudimentary, and the lack of any artistry confines proceedings to uninspired territory. Rush released within two years of the disappearance and well before all the crimes were prosecuted, the police investigation elements are bundled into a blur. Most of the running time is occupied by a bland romance and then the sordid details of a disintegrating household.
